Electrical engineering specialist brings almost 100 years of experience to UK utilities, renewables and industrial projects

HULL, 6 August 2026 — UK electrical engineering services company Dron & Dickson has expanded its onshore engineering capability with the launch of a new engineering division based in Humberside.
The division will provide high-voltage electrical engineering services for projects across the utilities, renewable energy and industrial sectors, with capability covering systems up to 66kV.
As Dron & Dickson approaches its centenary, the expansion builds on the company’s longstanding work in the offshore oil and gas sector. It will bring the same technical expertise and safety standards to onshore infrastructure projects throughout the UK.
The move comes as investment increases in renewable energy, electricity networks and industrial electrification, creating greater demand for experienced electrical engineering teams.
Expanding Capability Across the UK
Operating from Dron & Dickson’s Hull office, the Humberside engineering team will provide services including:
- HV cable installation, termination and jointing
- Substation build fit-out and electrical balance of plant
- Testing, commissioning and energisation
- Fault response and maintenance services
- Full lifecycle asset support and upgrades
- Installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical systems up to 66kV
- Specialist diagnostics and fault finding
- Knowledge and ability to install and work with all major HV equipment manufacturers
- Independently assessed and verified technician competence
With established capabilities across both offshore and onshore environments, the company is well positioned to bring proven engineering standards, a safety culture, and technical competence to rapidly growing land-based markets.
The expansion also aligns with increasing demand from the renewable energy sector, where the business is already supporting projects including industrial HV installations, wind farms, solar installations, and battery energy storage systems.
Investment in people and regional growth
The company is recruiting office-based engineering personnel and field-based technicians in Humberside and across northern England.
Roles will include Electrical Project Engineers, Electrical Construction Leads, LV Electricians and HV Technicians. The new team will deliver project engineering, installation, commissioning, operational support and maintenance services.
Kevin Rooms, Engineering Services Manager England, said:
“This is an important next stage development for the business and a very exciting opportunity to build an offering that is dynamic, highly reactive and client-focused.
Leveraging almost 100 years of engineering expertise and excellence, we are bringing this proven ability to onshore markets, with a particular focus on high-voltage (HV) electrical engineering, where quality, accuracy, and safety are paramount.
Based from the Hull Office, we are looking to attract skilled electrical project engineers, LV Electricians and HV Technicians and emerging talent who are driven in their desire to actively deliver real impact across the UK energy landscape.”
Supporting the UK energy supply chain
The Humberside division will strengthen Dron & Dickson’s support for the UK energy supply chain, particularly in renewable generation, private HV networks, energy transition projects and electricity grid modernisation.
Tom Irwin, Engineering Services Director, said:
“This expansion marks a natural evolution of our business, building on our strong offshore electrical engineering reputation. We are now bringing the same discipline, capability and safety-first culture to onshore markets. Under Kevin Rooms’ leadership, we are well-positioned to grow our LV/HV expertise, including a unique combined wholesale and engineering service offering that delivers real, tangible cost efficiencies without compromising safety or quality.
Humberside provides an ideal base for growth, and through continued investment in people and capability, we are committed to delivering safe, reliable, high-performance solutions across the full asset lifecycle”

High-voltage engineering expertise
Our comprehensive capability, combined with a strong focus on compliance and engineering excellence, positions the business as a key partner in delivering the UK’s future energy infrastructure.
With recruitment underway and projects already in development, the Humberside division represents a significant step forward in the company’s long-term growth strategy.
The business is now welcoming enquiries from clients seeking specialist HV engineering services, as well as applications from Electrical Project Engineers, Electricians, and HV Technicians looking to join a forward-thinking, expanding organisation.
